DP Medical Systems is celebrating after achieving a record high turnover during 2018.

The Surrey-based organisation continued its development recording double digit growth for the third consecutive year. In addition, each division of the company including dental, hospital and services, has grown substantially over the period.

Rob Atkinson, managing director of DP Medical, said: “We’re delighted to have achieved such strong figures in 2018 which is testament to the hard work and dedication of our whole team.

“The last twelve months has seen some really exciting advancements for us including our second commitment deal with the NHS Supply Chain which allows us to offer our KAPS Microscopes and Colposcopes to all NHS trusts at a discounted rate with immediate delivery. This helps hospitals, not only from a cost perspective, but also in time as they can have the scopes installed immediately, as opposed to an average six-eight week lead time. NHS Supply Chain plays a huge part in the NHS purchasing routes and we are really pleased our partnership with them continues to grow.

“In addition, our XION product range continues to grow its market share within the ENT sector which has been a major part of our success over the last year. And our decision in 2017 to remove loupes from our dental range has allowed our sales team to focus on the market leading Global Microscope which has resulted in increased sales across the UK.

“We’re really excited to announce that due to these developments we will be expanding our team early this year within our software department, and following increased sales in Ireland, we will also be appointing a service engineer to cover that

area of our market.

“2019 is all set to be another good year for us as we look to increase our staff numbers and build on the exceptional service we’re known for.”

DP Medical Company News Leave a comment

Leading medical supplier DP Medical has joined forces with the Ear Academy to deliver some brand new ear care training to audiologists from across the UK.

The aural microsuction training course was held at Charing Cross NHS Trust in Greater London, which is associated with the Imperial College.  The two-day course covered an ample amount of theory around aural care as well as practical experience with 102 ears with multiple otological conditions available for the trainees to observe and have hands on involvement with.

Dr Mohammed Al-khateeb, consultant audiologist and Ear Care Academy trainer, said: “The courses were an enormous success and we got some great feedback from those who took part particularly around the amount of hands on practice they had on real ears, the theory elements covered, the level of experience the trainers had and the quality of aural care products from DP Medical that were used.

“DP Medical added great value to the training course by the level of representation and technical support they had over both  days especially the quality and quantity of microscopes with LCD screens supplied for training and educational purposes. Trainees were really impressed with the SOMRON microscopes especially from those who used other microscope brands in the past. The SOMRON microscopes are cost effective with high quality magnifications, robust handling and manoeuvres and are spot on and fit for purpose if you are planning to set up aural care clinics.”

Owen Pemberton, commercial director at DP Medical, said: “We were thrilled to partner with Ear Care Academy for their first event.  We found the content and level of interaction with the delegates first class – we are very much looking forward to March’s event.”

The next aural microsuction training course is on the 2nd and 3rd of March 2019. Spaces are limited so to book your place please visit www.earcareacademy.co.uk. Owen hits the road for CLEFT!

DP Medical Company News Leave a comment

This summer DP Medical’s Owen Pemberton will take part in the Prudential RideLondon cycling event, taking on the 100 mile course to raise money for the charity CLEFT.

Owen is supporting CLEFT after working with Great Ormond Street Hospital and key consultants including Honorary Consultant Plastic Surgeon, Brian Sommerlad who is also the Chair of CLEFT, through his role with DP Medical.

A cleft is a birth defect which can leave children suffering from speech and hearing problems. There may be a cleft (split) just of the lip, just of the palate, or both. They can be one-sided (unilateral) or double-sided (bilateral).

Owen said: “I became aware of the charity through my work and learned of the worthwhile projects that CLEFT run throughout the world.

“Having had the benefit of meeting some of the amazing consultants, such as Brian, who donate their own time and expertise to help those who don’t have access to the medical care for their conditions, I felt empowered to help raise funds for these projects.

“The charity has run recent trips to Bangladesh, Uganda, Sri Lanka and Egypt where they have helped countless children – and have set themselves a target of raising £275,000 for an MRI scanner.”

This is why he has decided to take on the gruelling 100 mile cycling challenge, with the aim of raising £1,000 for the cause.

On Sunday 29 July Owen, along with a few other riders supporting the same charity, will set off from London’s Olympic Park and follow much of the same route that the likes of Bradley Wiggins, Lizzie Deignan and Mark Cavendish tackled during London 2012.

He will head out into the punishing Surrey hills before coming back into London for a grand finish on the Mall.

Owen added: “I have completed a few bike rides in the past but this will be by far the furthest I have cycled in one day.

“Any donations no matter how small will be greatly appreciated and will keep those legs pedalling along.”

Brian Sommerlad, chairman of CLEFT and plastic surgeon, said: “I am delighted that Owen is cycling Ride London for CLEFT. I wish him well in the event and in reaching his target of raising £1,000 for the charity. This will benefit children born with clefts in many parts of the world.”

DP Medical has supported CLEFT on its trips overseas, including earlier this year by providing an endoscope at a reduced price which has enabled a team in Bangladesh to investigate the palate function of patients whose speech is unsatisfactory.

We offer Owen our full support during his challenge! And you can donate to the cause here: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-display/showROFundraiserPage?pageId=927447

DP Medical celebrates a busy start to 2018

DP Medical Company News Leave a comment

Medical device and equipment supplier DP Medical Systems Ltd is celebrating after getting the year off to a strong start.

The Surrey-based firm, which specialises in supplying a full range of medical and dental equipment to the public and private sectors, has had a busy first quarter showcasing its product ranges to existing and potential customers at a wide variety of exhibits and events across the country.

A particular highlight saw DP Medical support a charity event led by BBC broadcaster Nick Robinson and speech and language therapist (SLT) Julia Selby.

Hosted by the Trent Voice Clinical Excellence Network and The University of Sheffield, the event – which was held in March – saw Nick and Julia discuss how the broadcast journalist underwent surgery and speech therapy to recover from voice palsy.

Nigel Bridgewater of DP Medical attended the event and showcased the company’s XION video flexible nasal endoscope, which allows clinicians to view the vocal chords.

Nigel said: “Usually, vocal chords should be ‘V’ shaped, but one of Nick’s cords was bow-shaped meaning he couldn’t speak.

“It was fascinating to hear how Julia’s expertise helped Nick recover and get back on air to lead the BBC’s coverage of the 2015 election. We at DP Medical were honoured to be a part of the event.”

The first quarter of the year has also seen the team at DP Medical undertake several new installations of equipment at hospitals across the UK, including the Epsom & St Helier NHS Trust and the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.

Both hospitals received the XION EndoCompact system –a compact system designed to meet the everyday requirements of ENT practices and outpatient clinical departments, offering LED illumination, video nasophayngscope and a compact camera.(1)

Owen Pemberton, commercial director at DP Medical, said: “We’re thrilled with the positive response and the level of interest we’ve received from customers this year.”

The team at DP Medical is also on the increase, too, this year with a duo of new appointments.

Andrew Tasker has been appointed as dental area manager for northern England, Scotland and Wales, and Carl Seabrook has been taken on as the company’s new warehouse manager.

Commenting on his new role with DP Medical, Andrew said: “I’m already really enjoying the role and love meeting new people and clients regularly. I do feel really lucky to have joined the DP Medical team, and I can’t wait to get to know them more.”

DP Medical celebrates after ending 2017 on a high

DP Medical Company News Leave a comment

DP Medical Systems is celebrating after finishing its 30th year in business on a high.

The Surrey-based organisation saw turnover increase by 14 percent in 2017, reaching approximately £4.3million and marking the company’s third year of consecutive double digit growth.

The year also saw DP Medical’s hospital division reach £3million, more than twice its size in 2014, and the company’s service department achieved its highest turnover to date.

Rob Atkinson, managing director of DP Medical, said: “We’re thrilled to have finished 2017 – our 30th year in business – on such a high, with strong turnover figures.

“The last twelve months have seen some significant changes take place across our business, with our team making some bold decisions in response to shifts in the market.

“For example, in August, we made the decision to shift our attention in the dental magnification market away from loupes to more advanced systems, such as Global microscopes.

“Having the courage to make decisions such as this has paid off, with record revenue achieved at this year’s BIDA Dental Show. Coupled with our strong performance figures, this proves testimony to the fact that our team understands the markets we work in and that we are committed to responding to our customers’ changing requirements, as technology and the wider healthcare environment continues to evolve.”

During 2017, DP Medical was named as the exclusive UK suppliers of several esteemed products and devices, including MobileODT’s pioneering EVA System and world-leading medical imaging firm Xoran Technologies LLC’s xCAT and MiniCAT IQ CT scanners.

Rob – who has recently been named as the company’s new managing director – added: “It’s a real credit to the hard work and dedication of our team that such globally renowned names in the medical device world have chosen us as their exclusive UK suppliers.

“We look forward to starting our next year in business in a strong position as we keep on providing the exceptional service we’re known for.”

DP Medical Systems, which employs 22 people, sells ENT, dental, gynaecology and forensic medical equipment to the NHS and private users.
