Rounding off a positive yet challenging year for DP Medical

As the 2022-23 financial year draws to a close, Owen Pemberton – commercial director at DP Medical, looks back at the last 12 months and what was a positive, yet challenging year for the company.

For businesses everywhere, the challenges keep coming. Supply chain issues, price increases and a depleted workforce are just some of the hurdles that companies across a multitude of sectors are having to navigate at present.

And, here at DP Medical, we’re no exception.

Throughout the last year we have traversed the many market demands and pressures that have come our way, while also striving to maintain our exceptionally high standards of customer service and quality.

It’s been a challenging year for our team and for our customers. But, despite the turbulent conditions, I’m proud to say that we’re ending this period on a high, achieving one of our best years yet.

Continued team expansion

One of our most notable achievements this year has been the growth of our team. The last 12 months marked our sixth consecutive year of expansion, making several key appointments.

Growing our headcount remains a major focus for us, particularly within our service department which has trebled in personnel from just three years ago.

As market conditions continue to be tough, we know our customers want the very best value when it comes to service excellence, and so we’re proud to have more field engineers out on the road than ever before.

And, in 2023, we’ve got more appointments underway as we keep on investing in our people. We’re on the look out for more team members at present, and we’re excited about continuing to grow in the coming months.

Installation successes

The year also saw us undertake more than 200 equipment installations across the UK and Ireland.

This included multiple new XION videoscopes and camera systems at locations such as University Hospital Galway and Community Health Organisation 3 in Ireland; new dental microscopes at King’s College London; MediScan HD at the Medical Centre in Chamonix, France; and forensic examination equipment for national use by Scotland’s Sexual Assault Response Coordination Service (SARCS).

Additionally, we supplied a number of medical furniture items to our commercial partners – a channel we’re looking to develop further in the coming months and years.

Introducing innovation

During 2022, we were also incredibly proud to introduce some incredibly exciting innovations to the UK market for the first time, such as the Trachealator from DISA Medinotec, and the VOIS Implant from APrevent.

Both products are making a real impact within the world of ENT surgery and we were thrilled to be selected as the exclusive UK distributor for each.

Throughout 2023 we’ll be hitting the road with our suppliers to showcase the capabilities and clinical results our products, including the Trachealator and the VOIS Implant, can achieve.

It was great to showcase these two innovations at BACO International in Manchester recently, where we demonstrated both products on the Innovation Stage.

Future focus

All in all, it’s been a very positive year for the team at DP Medical, but we’re not ones to rest on our laurels.

The turbulent trading conditions continue and we have more challenges to work through in the coming months.

However, we’re incredibly grateful for the ongoing support, loyalty and understanding of our customers and our suppliers. As well as the continuing hard work of our own team, too.

There is lots to look forward to throughout 2023 and beyond, and we’re thrilled to have you all on board for the journey ahead.
