Meet the team: Ross Richards

Following another round of new appointments here at DP Medical, we chat to Ross Richards - our new mobile service engineer for South / Southwest England and South Wales

What does your role with DP Medical involve?

The servicing/maintenance and repair of imaging equipment within ENT, Gynaecology, Dental and Forensic settings.

What do you like most about working at DP Medical?

DP Medical have an amazing team of staff who are always extremely helpful and supportive. From an engineering perspective I find the variety of work location/setting very enjoyable and rewarding.

Where are you based?

My hometown is Reading, Berkshire. My work location ranges across the South / Southwest of England and South Wales.

Please provide a brief overview of your career history to date

My career originally started in healthcare as a customer care agent supplied Aids for Living (zimmer frames, commodes, rise and recline chairs, mobility scooters) to the elderly.

Whilst in this role I found that I had a knack for fault finding and fixing things. So, I undertook some basic engineer training and advanced from there. From here I moved onto the service and repair of hospital beds, patient lifting devices and specialist bathing systems within the NHS, and then onto DP Medical specialising in medical imaging systems. During my career I have managed to obtain a wealth of knowledge across a wide range of medical device sectors.

What do you like to do outside of work?

utside of work I am a keen golfer and general sports fan. Energy is very much reserved for having to keep my eight-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son constantly entertained.

My daughter also plays a lot of football so that keeps me busy most Saturday mornings.

Tell us something not many people may know about you:

Whilst always having British Nationality since birth I didn't actually move to and live in the UK until the age of seven.

This was because I was born on a British Army base in Paderborn, West Germany due to my father serving for the British Armed Forces at the time.
