Riding the storm: How DP Medical is rising to market challenges

It’s no secret that organisations everywhere are facing unprecedented challenges like never before. Here, DP Medical System’s managing director, Rob Atkinson, explains how DP is investing across the business to ride out the storm and take care of its valued customers.

From the impact of Brexit, to a depleted workforce, global supply chain issues and Covid-19, it’s fair to say nobody could have predicted the challenges that have emerged in today’s market.

Organisations across the globe are having to rise to new demands and pressures, and here at DP Medical, we’re no exception.

We’re very proud of what we do. Since 1987 we’ve been working with manufacturers worldwide to supply customers in the ENT, gynecology, dental and forensic sectors with industry-leading equipment and instruments, as well as offering exceptional customer service and technical support, too.

Maintaining these high standards and upholding our commitment to quality and great service is paramount to us as a team, so in the face of today’s market challenges, we’re doing all we can to ensure we deliver.

Tackling growing lead times

The impact of Brexit has seen a significant rise in paperwork and administration when it comes to working with suppliers in Europe. This, coupled with difficulties suppliers are having sourcing essential components, means we have seen an increase in lead times for orders on some of our products and we’re working hard to try and bring these times down where we can.

A big part of this has seen us investing in holding more stock, so that when our customers need something, we have it here in the UK ready to go.

Investing in our workforce

We’ve increased our headcount in each of the last six years and, this year, our major focus has been on expanding our Service department. This particular department has now trebled in personnel from just three years ago, in response to both the business’s rapid growth and changing market conditions.

We now have more field engineers on the road than ever before and recently added another Service Coordinator to our head office.

Doing our best

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank our customers for their continued patience and understanding as we navigate our way through this challenging time. I’d also like to thank the team at DP Medical for working so hard to maintain our high standards wherever possible. It’s certainly not easy doing business at present, but we’re doing our best to keep delivering excellence and quality, keeping our pricing as competitive as we can, and working closely with our suppliers and customers to ride out the storm.
