A tribute to our company founder and namesake, Douglas Pitman

It is with great sadness that we announce the recent death of our company founder and namesake, Douglas Pitman, on Saturday 6 September, 2025, after a long illness.

Douglas was an inspiring leader who established DP Medical in 1987 and whose vision and leadership transformed the company from a one-person venture, into the industry-leading business DP is today. He was so proud of the company’s success and, particularly, our team.

His entrepreneurial spirit and his eye for innovation were unwavering. He had an exceptional talent for focusing on niche markets and cultivating true expertise in those areas, becoming a true champion for finding untapped potential in the healthcare sector and always seeking to serve customers better and drive the company forward.

DP Medical’s growth can be directly attributed to this forward-thinking approach to business and to Douglas’s passion for customer care, earning the trust and loyalty of countless professionals in the medical and dental community over the years.

His legacy will now live on in all we do at DP Medical, through the many people he inspired and the company he so proudly built.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
