Our B Corp journey: People, purpose and progress
17 September 2025 Putting our team in focus on our B Corp journey
In the first article of this series, we shared why we’re pursuing B Corp Certification and how it aligns with our values, quality standards and DP’s long term commitment to doing business the right way. We also highlighted that B Corp looks at five areas: governance, workers, community, environment and customers, with the ‘Workers’ pillar focused on the experience and wellbeing of the people within our business. In this latest blog, Javier Pazos Garcia, DP’s Quality Control and Environmental Manager, takes a closer look at the Workers pillar, exploring what it covers, what already makes DP Medical a great place to work and how accreditation will help us go further.
What does the B Corp ‘Workers’ pillar cover?
The ‘Workers Impact Area’ of B Corp Certification explores how organisations support employees’ financial security, health & safety, wellbeing, career development, and engagement and satisfaction. It’s about creating a workplace where people feel valued, heard and empowered, with policies and practices in place to ensure this every day.
What already makes DP a great place to work?
Our team has grown exponentially in recent years and we’re very proud of our workforce. We already reflect this in several ways, including:
Real Living Wage accreditation: We’re proud to be a Living Wage Employer, demonstrating our commitment to fair pay.
Comprehensive healthcare coverage: Our benefits include private health insurance and an Employee Assistance Programme, giving colleagues access to mental health support and wellbeing resources.
Professional development opportunities: We invest in training and career growth, ensuring our people have the tools and pathways to progress.
Flexible working: From home working options to adaptable schedules, we support work–life balance and recognise that flexibility matters.
Commitment to DEI: Diversity, equity and inclusion is incredibly important to us as an employer. We ensure this is reflected throughout our recruitment practices.
A culture of quality and care: Our ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications, together with our Carbon Reduction Plan, show we already use robust systems to benefit our customers, colleagues and the planet.
How will B Corp help us go further for our people?
Becoming a B Corp means putting a framework in place for continuous improvement. As we continue to work towards achieving the certification, we’ll be working hard to maintain our high standards and introduce new commitments, too. This will include assessing and building on areas including employee benefits, DEI initiatives and learning and development opportunities for the team.
Equally, we’re excited to introduce new ways to enhance our team voice through engagement surveys and communications, such as our recently introduced ‘Team DP’ newsletter.
Why does this matter?
P’s success story simply wouldn’t have happened without our people. The team is our lifeblood and, therefore, fair pay, inclusive culture, meaningful benefits and clear pathways for growth are vitally important. We know that by taking care of our team, we in turn continue to strengthen our service, innovation and long-term resilience as a business. It also gives customers and partners confidence that DP Medical is committed to being a great employer through our demonstrable actions – not just words.
