DP Medical unveils a new era of carbon reduction

In its latest move towards achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050, DP Medical has unveiled a new carbon reduction plan, underscoring the company’s commitment to reducing its environmental impact.

The plan outlines DP Medical’s strategy to minimise the company’s carbon footprint, with several projects planned or already underway to help the business achieve its goal, including:

Management systems and sustainable office policies

Since January 2024, DP Medical has implemented an environmental management system based on the ISO14001 standards.

Across its offices the company has also introduced sustainable office practices by implementing water and waste policies. A new waste strategy is set to be introduced during 2025 across the business.

Introduction of new sustainability metrics

Also implemented last year, a set of new sustainability metrics are now in place across the company, focused on reducing emissions generation from the consumption of natural gas at DP Medical facilities, as well as emissions generated from use of vehicles owned by the company.

Putting new metrics in place to monitor these statistics allows the company to better track its emissions and act quickly in the case of undesirable trends, as well as monitor progress through new and existing company-wide initiatives.

Transition to paperless operations

DP Medical was proud to become a paperless organisation in the majority by the end of 2024, working with electronic systems and formats as well as putting in place new recycling policies across our offices.

Fleet review

The fleet used by DP Medical for business purposes is currently under review, with the goal to gradually replace all carbon fuel vehicles with green alternatives. The company aims to have achieved a 50 percent ratio of green vehicles vs carbon fuelled by the end of 2025.

Supplier assessment

The company is also updating its procurement strategy to ensure all suppliers comply with DP Medical’s quality and environmental policy.

Owen Pemberton, managing director at DP Medical Systems, said: “Our carbon reduction plan demonstrates our commitment to reducing the company’s emissions and becoming a more sustainable business wherever possible, with the aim of achieving Net Zero status by 2050.

“This goal aligns with the NHS’s target and reiterates our position as a sustainable supplier of choice for our customers across the UK and Ireland.”
