Owen completes marathon challenge for children’s hospital charity
22 September 2025 DP Medical’s managing director, Owen Pemberton, has raised more than £2,600 for charity this month, taking part in the iconic Berlin Marathon.
Owen completed the 26.2mile course in 5 hours and 30 minutes raising vital funds for Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity, an organisation that supports Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust - one of only three dedicated children’s hospital trusts in the UK.
Sheffield Children's Hospital Charity supports the thousands of patients and families at Sheffield Children’s, from across the UK and beyond.
It funds groundbreaking research, specialist medical equipment and new facilities, creating an engaging environment built with children in mind.
Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity champions excellence and innovation to help create healthier futures for this generation and those to come.
Owen said: “Taking on the Berlin Marathon was a huge challenge and a real lifetime milestone for me, but I was determined to complete the course and raise funds for a charity that’s close to my heart – Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity.
“It was a tough run, especially in 28 degree heat but I managed to hit the fundraising goal just before the start which spurred me on. I’m proud to have completed it and so happy such a great amount is now set to go to the charity to support their vital work.”
Curt Howett, Events and Fundraising Officer at Sheffield Hospital Children’s Charity, said: “We’re so grateful to Owen for his incredible fundraising effort. Completing a marathon is so challenging, but Owen’s determination will help make a real difference for children and families at Sheffield Children’s.”
