Meet the team: Fiona Howarth

Next up in our Meet the Team series, we get to know Fiona Howarth - our new Scotland ENT and Theatre Area Manager

What does your role with DP Medical involve?

The job is the first hybrid role and involves seeing customers from both Theatre and ENT. So, I can be in an ENT clinic in the morning going into scrubs in theatre in the afternoon. It is a sales role and the first dedicated to Scotland for DP.

What do you like most about working at DP Medical?

The people in DP are really lovely and the innovative products mean the customers really engage with you. The response from customers has been excellent making gaining access so much easier.

Where are you based?

I am based in Hamilton, just outside of Glasgow and cover the whole of Scotland.

Please provide a brief overview of your career history to date

I have worked in the Pharma industry for over 25 years when I left the NHS working as an orthoptist (squints and eye defects). I have worked mainly in radiology and anaesthetic fields selling pharmaceutical products and equipment.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I have two beautiful dogs so anywhere I can take them is a winner for me. We love a doggy festival or doodle party where the dogs and I can get dressed up to compete in the fancy dress category. So far we have won as Carmen Miranda, the Pope and Sister Sledge (nuns) and Marti Mcfly and the DocQ! We also do a bit of flyball. Most weekends I will be at a dog or food and drink festival/ event.

Tell us something not many people may know about you:

I was delivered by one of the Three Bears! Back in the 70's my mum went into labour early and her doctor was a performer in the pantomime. So he came off stage to deliver me.

My mum at one point said she thought she had to much gas and air as the doctor had a furry bum and a tail. He did, he had just taken his bear head off to deliver me and left the rest of the costume on. He said your daughter will always be able to say she was delivered by one of the Three Bears.
